The Journey of Becoming...
Like many other children of my generation, I also started getting to know about Pokémon through the first anime series. However, unlike others, I started in the late 2000s as I was not very fortunate to watch television in my daily childhood life. When I saw the first episode of Pokemon, I was instantly hooked and that slowly led me to play games like Pokémon Yellow, Fire Red, Emerald, Ruby, Diamond, etc. Over the years of playing, the love for the game had slowly gone down due to coming of age and as well as the “adult responsibilities.” However, recently about a year ago, I found this beautiful game that took me back to my childhood days, and I cannot express in few words how I am amazed by it. I found Crazy Monsters on an advertisement in Facebook, and I scrolled through couple of times, but eventually I downloaded the app, and I was instantly hooked just like I was after first episode of Pokemon. I’ve played for over a year now and I’m still looking forward to playing more. Anyways, I’m here to talk about my favorite Pokemons and the journey of being a Pokemon trainer in this beautiful game. When I was watching the diamond and pearl series, I was in love with the best trainer of sinnoh, Cynthia, and her amazing Garchomp. And that is how I fell in love with Garchomp, and it became one of my two favorites. The second favorite on the equal list is none other than the incredible Mewtwo. After watching the first movie, Mewtwo was a Pokemon and as well as a character that I started to love slowly as I got to know more about it. The character Mewtwo in the movie was very inspirational that I really loved it.
Back to the Crazy Monsters, I started this game without knowing anything about it and without knowing any people that I know now. Garchomp was my first mega evolution, and my forever Pokemon in the team. To talk about the hardest Pokemon to catch, I think my hardest was the very first time I tried to catch the first legendary of the game in adventure; Zapdos. Back then, there was no tutorial on how to catch a Pokemon that is so fast and strong, and escapes, so it was very hard catching it. I remember it was level 46 that I finally had caught Zapdos after trying for many times. However, over the years of my experience, I learned to catch a Zapdos at level 28-29 on my first try. I don’t think there is a “lucky charm” Pokemon in my team, however, I cannot see my team play without Garchomp. My Garchomp, which I named “Cynthia,” has been with me from the very first time I got competitive on PvP aspect of this game, and I feel like that is my lucky charm. Even if we were to lose a match, I’m proud that we don’t really “lose”, but rather learn to become the better player for the next match, and so on.
In order to talk about the best combination type, for me, I would have to talk about my Garchomp first. Garchomp is a dragon and ground type Pokemon, and its weaknesses are Ice with four times and dragon with two times, while fairy type still not released in this game, fairy is still two times. And for me to find the best type combination to help Garchomp, would be steel type. But that is only one type, so how do we find the other? Well, I would find a steel type that has the fewest weaknesses, and that is steel and bug combination. While it is 4 times weak to fire, it resists plenty of other types and immune to poison. The fire weakness can be covered with the ground type, that is Garchomp. One of the reasons why I like this dual type is because of the very underrated Scizor. With massive defense and ability of technician, scizor can be used very well, either defensively or offensively.
Over the time I’ve played this game, I have met many awesome players and learned many things from experience. To someone who would just be starting to play this game, I would give them an advice to use the money (if you’re spending) wisely, and do not spend carelessly on any events you find. From the beginning, try to play with the mindset that you want to become strong and catch up with players in the lower servers, however, not in terms of ranks but experience wise. The more you give time to learn something, the better the result. Try to focus on making a balanced team, be it full of rares or epics or even legendaries. Try to use the double drops to your advantage and do not waste the sp you saved carelessly. Focus on making a mega evolution that can be used for a long time like; Groudon, Rayquaza, Lugia, Mewtwo, etc. The most important thing is to not be afraid to ask for help and be there to help someone that needs it. We’re all learning to become the better version of ourselves, not only in this game, but also in life. Don’t forget to have fun.
